The Sweet Wine Challenge is conducted each year by the Riverina Winemakers Association and is open to any non-fortified sweet wine.  To be eligible for the Challenge a sweet wine must be commercially available in the country of origin, and hold a minimum stock of 50 case lots (12 x 750 ml or equivalent) at the time of entry. There is also a museum class for wines that are not commercially available.

Lester Jesberg (Winewise), Ben Edwards (The WIne Guide) and New Zealand's Simon Nunns (Coopers Creek) were the principal judges.

The Challenge was  judged in Griffith New South Wales, Australia on 8 September 2011 and results announced on 10 September.
